Together Fest SF
There are so many festivals and amazing DJs nowadays, and it is really hard to keep track of them. However, there is one event that is quite different than all the others. We are talking about the Together Fest – a festival meant to show the true power of female DJs and artists for one night in San Francisco. The event takes place on October 8th, 2016, at the infamous SF Armory. This massive indoor music festival offers two music stages, light show, silent disco, food trucks and more!
Together Fest is here to show you what Bay Area music festivals have been missing with its lineup of most talented and unique performers. The venue – San Francisco Armory – is quite unusual setting for a festival. It is always fun to explain that this big, imposing building is owned by BDSM pornographers Kink.com, who use it for porn shoots and as office space. It has been open before for some public tours and a few events, however, it is about to get a lot more social when it becomes a place where some of the most respected DJs in EDM gather. The Armory’s entertainment permit has been approved in April, 2016, and it is about to become a concert venue with a 4,000 person capacity.
Originally, the Armory has been used for some kind of power-exchange, and the males were mostly dominant. However, the male-dominated world of dance music will be taken over by women on October 8th in San Francisco. Of course, both genders are welcome to attend the event, but only female DJs are playing at the Together Fest.
The person who has been supervising the conversion of the SF Armory is another lady – Audrey Joseph, the former president of the San Francisco Entertainment Commission. Ms. Jackson is producing the event and is one of the featured DJs. Some other ladies that will also be present at the together fest are: Dani Deahl, Brazzabelle, Little Boots, UNiiQU3, TT The Artist, Club Aerobics, Micahtron + Blimes Brixton, BITCH PLZ (MISS HAZE, CORRINE), AMBER VALENTINE X CHELSEA STARR.
Ms. Jackson says that the reason behind organizing an event where only ladies perform is because the EDM scene is slanted towards male DJS, and it is hard to focus on the talent of female DJs. And, there is a lot of talent out there. Jackson is determined to make a change, and she believes Together Fest will be that change.
“This is going be the hottest new venue in San Francisco when it opens,” Jackson predicts, “and with something like this, the timing has to be so right.” The idea for Together Fest has been formulating for a year, she says, “and we feel like, [right now] women are at the forefront.”
Now, it is time for you to read about these amazing ladies who will be performing on October 8.
Chicago’s Dani Deahl does things only few in electronic music can do. Her reach within EDM is all encompassing – she is a DJ, producer, blogger, and journalist. She is behind the Billboard charted track, she interviewed influential musicians such as David Guetta and Tyga, runs a famous blog, and she even played Lollapalooza three times.
Dani was drawn to EDM at an early age. She landed her first residencies while still in high school. Now, she left her mark and has been praised by artists like Diplo, Smalltown DJs and Donald Glaude and signed to prestigious labels Red Stick (a Strictly Rhythm label), Royal One, Dirty Fabric, Atomic Zoo and more.
Brazzabelle began her DJ career in 2010 after releasing her debut track “Break Your Body” which earned her a great number of club residencies less than a year later. She was featured on the HARD Summer lineup in 2013, as well as the main stages of EDC Puerto Rico and New York’s Electric Zoo. This young lady even produced official remixes for Skrillex and Elliphant.
However, what really garnered Brazzabelle attention was the success of her remix of Haddaway’s “What Is Love.” 2014 was her breakout year, after she landed a campaign for Sol Republic’s headphones and started her popular series “Ravercise,” a parody of the YouTube viral hit “Prancercise.” Nowadays, she is still keeping the pace by making it to the lineups of great festivals such as TomorrowWorld and releasing her own tracks.
Little Boots emerged first in 2008, and has been making headlines and topping charts ever since. Always keeping a sense of party fun, her mixes swing from disco to the latest house beats. Little Boots won the respected BBC Sound Of Poll and collaborated with many famous artists, such as Maya Jane Coles, Hercules and Love Affair, Simian Mobile Disco and Com Truise.
Little Boots’ DJ roots are deep and long-running, and it is hard to think of another star who has earned as much credibility from the EDM’s inner-circle.
The Jersey Club movement is very likely to become the next big thing in dance music and has been praised by music authorities such as FADER and VICE. Luckily, it has already found its first lady who will guide it into the future. We are talking about the one and only UNiiQU3, who started off as a sought-after vocalist, now is one of the most energizing producers. From throwing hot DIY events to spreading the genre across the globe, this lady definitely leaves her impact wherever she goes.
TT THE ARTIST
Together Fest is not only here to feature well-known DJs and artists, but to also showcase incredible rising stars. One of these stars is Tedra Wilson aka TT The Artist. Her ultimate goal is to paint the world with visual language, through art and music.
TT has been around since 2010, but it was the summer of 2015 when she started gaining more popularity. She was noticed by Red Bull Music Academy who selected her to feature in the Bonneroo Red bull Music Academy Bass Camp.
Together Fest SF will also feature the following artists: Club Aerobics, Von Kiss, Micahtron, Blimes Brixton, BITCH PLZ, Ms. Jackson, Amber Valentine, and DJ Chelsea Starr.
